A Very Good Buy July 28, 2010 JT (Inkster, Michigan USA) I purchased this camera for a Caribbean cruise. It was the best portable camera that I could image. I carried it in my pocket and took it out for recording. The quality of the video is fantastic.
I had a problem with it while on vacation. I took the camera out to record found that the screen was mostly black with some lines. I recorded anyway and found that it continued to record but the monitor was shot. This was after 8 days of use. I contacted support and they had me to try some things but they didn't work. I requested a replacement and they replaced the camera. It took a couple weeks but they honored that warranty.
I recommend purchasing this camera. The editing software that is in the camera was limited but easy to use to edit my video. Here are two videos recorded on the Flip Ultra HD and edited with its software. The camera has rough video when you walk and record, as you can see in the video, but this is great for family get togethers. It's so easy to carry.

A Disappointment July 27, 2010 Yeah Right (NJ, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was very excited to get this camera. I read the reviews about the battery problems and thought; "Well there isn't a large enough group of reviewers with that problem to worry me about my choice."
Boy was I wrong.
The battery wouldn't charge from day 1. It would get very hot when it was plugged in to my computer. It would give me battery error after battery error. I tried every remedy I found online and nothing worked. A whole lot of people online have posted about this problem. It is rampant with this camera.
I underwent the terrible process of sending it back to Flip for support. Their customer support is horrendous. The website is poorly laid out, and it is nearly impossible to contact the company. I finally sent the camera back after emailing several technicians (who refused to admit that it was a very prevalent problem with their product).
Several weeks later, I got a refurbished camera in a white box. I was happy. Problem solved, right?
Wrong. The replacement camera HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I now have to use AA batteries to operate the camera, but this thing burns through batteries like wildfire. I had a terrible experience with this camera and cannot recommend it to anyone.
*Here is a review of the other features of the camera, aside from the terrible battery.
It records decent video and the sound is good too. The USB flipout dongle is nice in that you don't have another cable to carry around. However, it is not flexible, so I couldn't plug it into my Macbook because the camera body got in the way. I had to get a separate wired USB hub out to use it without breaking the plug or my computer. The included software is terrible. Clunky, slow, and idiotically designed.
Bottom line: Stay far, far away.
Flip and the not so cool battery charge. July 26, 2010 sofa king This flip is great to use just about anywhere. However mine has never fully charged, the battery has many issues, mainly it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. It takes four to six hours to charge, I had mine charge for 24 hours and still not a full charge. No one at Flip tech helped, they had no explanation to why this was happening. Until they fix this problem I won't recommended it to anyone. Save your money for something that works the way they tell you it's supposed to.
5 stars if image stabilization could exists July 25, 2010 Rod man (Chile) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A great little camera, good sound, good light auto gain, good auto colors, BUT no image stabilization and this is the key of all.
The camera will act great if standing on a tripod or so, but not in your hands , other wise you will get sick watching your recordings.
if Ultra just like it is now (well it could bring a mic in and earphone out too) with the image stabilization present, it will PERFECT, but nothing is so good.
May be in a 3rd generation
Did not last 6 months- bad customer service July 24, 2010 Patricia For the six months that it worked it did take good videos, but after 6 months it did not start. Called tech support and they had me on the phone for one hour with instructions take the batteries out and put in new ones, which of course I did before they asked, and other fixes to try which none worked. After the hour they told me to buy a battery pack and if that did not work to call them back. I bought a battery pack and that did not work, I called them back and after another 1/2 hour of trying to solve the issue, they told me to send it back to them for a replacement. They gave me another phone number to call to get an RMA # and instructions, now I am told the replacement they will be sending me is on back order, and I will have to wait two weeks for the replacement. I had to pay for the shipping to them which was $12 as I wanted it there overnight so that I could get it back quickly as it was the summer and I wanted it for vacation. After 4 weeks and several e-mails to them asking status, which they did not respond to, I did get notification that it was being shipped. A fifth week has gone by and I still have not received it yet, the UPS tracking number just says it was shipped on July 20 but no other information. I called Flip Customer service and they told me as this was a Saturday I would have to wait until sometime next week for someone to get back to me. The same week I also had trouble with my Linksys wireless router for my computer which I have only had for two months, and big surprise, they are both made by Cisco. Called Linksys tech support and spoke to someone in India and between the accent and the bad connection it took me 1 1/2 hours to trouble shoot that issue, but at least that was resolved on the phone.
