Pro Logic II adds an extra bonus by converting two-channel audio sources such as CDs and VHS tapes into full multichannel splendor to create a surround-like effect. Combine the surround decoders with the receiver's three DSP modes, which are designed to simulate the acoustics of the most common live venues, and you'll have access to dynamic, full-bodied sound whether watching the latest big-budget action spectacle or listening to a quiet trance CD.  Needs plenty of adjustments, low power September 27, 2005

The receiver is sounding much better after several adjustments and settings. I would like to increase the rating to 4 stars from 3 stars. See my previous comments below.

I have bought this receiver to replace my lightning-damaged Yamaha RXV 595, which was way more powerful than this one. Yamaha was rated 65W and this one is rated 100W - but this receiver sounds a lot weaker than my Yamaha. I thought, since I do not have much time to listen to music these days, I will go with a less expensive amp. with high user ratings. But that has been a mistake - this receiver produces sound no better than the built in speakers of my TV. I am using premium speakers from Paradigm in a 20'x 27' room and this amp. is not adequate. I should not have bought a low-end receiver to start with.

I've only had it for a couple days, it sounds great.It only has 1 optical digital out not 2 there are 2 coaxial digital outs.
Other than that its every thing they promise.
