Originally, I purchased a Polk Audio 10" subwoofer (PSW10). But, paired with the Klipsch RF3's that I have, it just couldn't put out enough power for my tastes. So, after doing much research, I came across this subwoofer. I read many, many reviews, and decided that this would be the one for me. The shipment arrived FAST, and in very good condition. As soon as I got home, I was like a kid on Christmas, and had to hook it up immediately!
I may not necessarily be what you would call an "audiophile", but I WAS PLEASED! I do not have thousand dollar pieces of equipment (receivers, speakers, etc...), but I do like higher end products.
I tested movies first, as that was the primary reason for my purchase. Top Gun, Gone In 60 Seconds, The Big Hit, all the usual movies I use to test out my stereo system sounded beautiful!
This sub may be discontinued, and maybe you're one of those people that just has to have the latest model, but just try this one on for size. I'll bet that you'll love it, like I did!

When I bought my B&W 803S speakers a couple of years ago, the sales person recommended a sub-woofer. I certainly couldn't afford the matching sub that goes with my new speakers. But I've been keeping an eye open for a sub-woofer and reading all the reviews. Finally the Polk Audio PSW 505 was featured and I broke down and got it.
It's amazing how it has rounded out my sound. Paricularly watching HD tv with just a stereo set up.
My only beef is, I wish there was more literature on how the controls on the back work and their purpose.It was totally hit or miss and it took me a while to get the setting just right............I am not big on bass for bass sake.

I bought this when I was setting up my first and only 7.1 channel home theater system in the basement. I'm happy with the sub -- it does what I expected it to : It works well with my other speakers I'm sure there is more bass than I will ever need in there should I decide to crank it up.

This completed a Polk Audio surround sound system w/Towers. I actually purchased the Sub before the other speakers & was so impressed I made the whole system Polk. I think this is an outstanding Speaker for it's price point & overall quality. The sound is great, the appearance is great as well as the features & ease of use.
